Baden Powel Trail – Oliver Dunn

March

12 Hour Hike – Baden Powell Trail

For this challenge I will be trekking the 12 hour hiking trail Baden Powel. This tail stretches from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver to Deep Cove in the Burrard inlet.

I will be doing it in sections and invite anyone to join me for one or more of these sections. See the map below for my planned stops, sections and rough times.

I will also be sharing my location live during the event through garmin.  Be sure to check in on the day for a link to that.

Baden Powell Hike Completed!

I am pretty glad to get this one behind me. Turned out to be a fair amount harder than expected. The guide books had it at 42km and while hard, doable in a day. Well I clocked it at 57km (with an elevation gain of 2.7km) and it would take someone considerably fitter than me to do it in a day. Spanning it over 2 Saturdays had me at my limit!

It has been a fantastic challenge though and the sense of achievement I feel now while writing this is great. I was lucky enough to have great weather for both days and (as you can see from the photos) the scenery was amazing. From snowy mountains to dense woodlands to swampy deep ravens, this hike is an incredible adventure for anyone.

So onwards to the next challenge. Technically this was the March challenge so the next one is just a couple of weeks away. I will be tackling the steed cycle ride up the Cypress mountain. Yep, the one I just hiked over. More to come on that soon…

Huge thanks to all those that have shown support and for those that have donated so far. You are what makes these challenges worthwhile.
