Vancouver Costal Hike
For this challenge I will be hiking the coastal path from Spanish Banks, past Kitsilano, around False Creek and Stanley Park, ending at the Convention Centre.
Encouraging anyone to join me for a section. Can be just for 30 mins or a couple of hours, or the whole thing! Shoot me a message if you are keen.

Well this one was a hot one!
For this challenge I was joined by Jimmy Ockey and Kate Sackreiter. Kate joined us in False Creek for a stint along there and Jimmy joined me for the whole thing, what a legend!
A heat wave came through Vancouver for the weekend and we topped 38 degrees in the afternoon. But pressed on through it we did and managed to complete the full 30kms around the coastline of Vancouver city. Starting at Jericho Sailing Center, the km’s seemed to fall away pretty easily as we made our way down the coast towards Kitsilano.
A short stop at Kitsilano beach before we headed on towards False Creek. From here we lost the coastal breeze and things started to heat up. Still, it was good to see the city from some different views. At Science World at the end of False Creek we stopped for lunch and a much needed break.
Completing False Creek got us to English Bay where we thought shoes off in the ocean would be a good way to cool off. Little did we know that getting back to the path meant getting through some burning hot sand! So much for a cooling off break!!
Recovering from that and after some much needed refreshments, we headed into Stanley Park. Here we got into some much needed shade in the tree cover that took us to Third beach. The beach here was the busiest I had ever seen it, comparable to a sunny Sunday afternoon at Bondi (almost!). From here we were out of tree cover as we made our way round to Prospect Point and now we were into the afternoon, this was really hot.
Rounding the corner at Prospect Point we were thankfully back into some tree cover again. We made our way round the rest of the coastal path, over to Coal Harbour and eventually to the Convention Center, finishing at Steamworks for a much needed beer and burger! Huge thanks to Kate and Jimmy for joining me on this one. Much respect of joining me on such a hot day!
